Just a little snack

This little guy was having a snack from a flower in my garden. Normally I find moths a little yucky, but when I loaded this capture onto my computer, I realized how beautiful they are once you see them up close.

Moth extracting nectar from a flower

There are two important components of a photo like this. First, be sure his eyes and proboscis are in focus. Second, because the flowers are a bit busy, be sure the bokeh is strong and of a complimentary color to the flowers. I had to angle my camera just right to get this green background so it would compliment both the purple of the flowers and the brown of the moth.

I think I’ll name him Fuzzy. I hope he comes back to my flower garden for another meal one day!

Bag of holding

Thanks to my son I learned that a bag of holding is a fictional magical item role-playing games, capable of containing objects larger than its own size. I’ve often felt that a woman’s purse is like that — you never know what she’s going to pull out of it next.

This card is designed for a purse-loving friend. I used it for a birthday card, but it’s suitable for any number of occasions.

INSTRUCTIONS

DCWV Cafe Mediterranean papers
K&Company Amy Butler Sola Purses embellishments
Recollections edge punch
Ivory card from Recollections Value Pack Blank Card & Envelope set

Inside of card:

Edge-punch the dark teal paper with a lacy pattern, then trim a strip to fit the inner side of the card, as shown. Trim a coordinating strip slightly smaller, and adhere it to the teal paper so a bit of teal shows on each side. Stamp a sentiment of your choice on the inside flap.

Outside of card:

Cut off a strip of the right front flat so it exposes the inner design, but hides the lacy edge (so it can be a nice surprise when the card is opened). Trim and adhere a piece of light teal paper to cover the front flap. Trim and adhere a strip of coordinating patterned paper to the front flap so that a light teal border remains showing from behind. Adhere three purses and a flower from the embellishment set, as shown in the photo.

All you need is a friend who has chocolate

In good times and bad, all you really need in life is a friend who has chocolate.

You could give this card as a thank you, a birthday, or even just when someone is going through a hard time. My personal recommendation is that this card accompany a scrumptious box of Godiva dark chocolate.

It is made in pink, brown and white — which are, of course, the colors of Neapolitan ice cream. The “ingredients” are listed below.
